Soy Capitán was founded in Berlin in 2011 by Heike Tosun and represents international artists working across a range of media – painting, photography, sculpture, and video.

The program consists of regularly changing solo exhibitions, selected curatorial projects, and participation in international art fairs. Central to the program are practices that think conceptually while remaining grounded in concrete things: the body, material, everyday life, history. The analytical is rarely without sensuality, the social rarely without personal closeness.

The gallery actively accompanies its artists – through exhibition-making, and through collaboration with institutions, curators, collections, and a broad network. At the heart of this work is engagement: direct conversation, exchange, and the encounter with art and with people.

From Berlin-Neukölln, Soy Capitán moved to Kreuzberg in 2013. Since 2024, the gallery has been located at Lindenstraße 34, close to the Jewish Museum and the Berlinische Galerie.
