Heike Tosun (Founder / Director)
Sophie Prager (Director)

Established by Heike Tosun in 2011, Soy Capitán currently represents international artists, working across a wide range of practices, media, and perspectives, including painting, photography, sculpture, video, and sound. Soy Capitán focuses on exploring and showcasing new developments in contemporary art with strong interdisciplinary, concept-based, and analytical approaches that often carry significant social commentary at their core.

The gallery’s exhibition program primarily focuses on regularly changing solo shows of the represented artists and is further expanded by selected curatorial interventions.

Soy Capitán acts as both an inspiring and welcoming home base for artists, collectors, curators, and visitors, as well as a platform that enables and supports sustainable and long-lasting artistic developments.

Founded in Berlin-Neukölln, where it actively participated in the newly emerging art scene, Soy Capitán moved its main gallery space to Prinzessinnenstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg in 2013, where it set up a space to facilitate meaningful connections through art and strengthen its cooperative network of creative thinkers, artists, institutions, curators, and collectors. After 11 years at its previous location Soy Capitán has relocated to its new premises at Lindenstraße 34 in Berlin, Kreuzberg in 2024.  It is now located close to the Jewish Museum and the Berlinische Galerie and remains at the heart of the dynamic contemporary art scene of Kreuzberg.
