Benja Sachau

Benja Sachau’s media-critical works are adept interpretations of current discourses on hierarchization, power, the control of knowledge, and the visual forms these take. His conceptually calculated objects are multimedia implementations of the impossible, such as parascientific belief constructs and myths. The results are abstract gridded wall pieces, intricate kinetic sculptures and multi-sensory installation pieces.

Sachau studied at Akademie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht. Selected solo exhibitions include The Human Glyphs at Galerie Kai Erdmann, Hamburg, DE (2014), There Were Rumours at Soy Capitán, Berlin, DE (2013), Frequencies with Dominic Wood at Autocenter, Berlin, DE (2010). Selected group shows include Eureka!, Matthias Jahn, Munich, DE (2014), The Art of Escaping the Hairsbreadth, Soy Capitán, Berlin, DE (2013), The Curators Battle curated by Aaron Moulton and Carson Chan, Grimmuseum, Berlin, DE (2011).

Benja Sachau, born 1976 in Hamburg, Germany, lives and works in Berlin.
