Paloma Proudfoot (b. 1992, London) is an artist living and working in London. She received a BA in Sculpture from the Edinburgh College of Art and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art.
Proudfoot uses sculpture, clothes-making, text and performance to weave together personal experience, historical references and contemporary cultural observations. Seeking articulation for amorphous feelings such as shame, grief and strength, she pushes the metaphorical and narrative potential of materials. As well as her solo practice Proudfoot works with different collaborators including with artist and choreographer Aniela Piasecka and the performance group ‘Stasis’. She has undertaken residencies at Tramway, Glasgow (with Piasecka); Moly Sabata, France; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (with Stasis) and the Thun Ceramic Residency, Italy.
Selected solo exhibitions include: Soy Capitan, Berlin (2023, 2021 and 2019); Bosse and Baum, London (2022) and Sans Titre, Paris (2019). Recent group exhibitions include: Goldsmiths CCA (2023); Bold Tendencies, London (2022); KIT – Kunst im Tunnel, Düsseldorf (2022); CAPC, Musée d‘art Contemporain de Bordeaux, France (2022); Den Frie, Copenhagen (2021); Southbank Centre, London (2021) and Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2019).
Proudfoot’s upcoming shows in 2024 include solo exhibitions at The Lowry, Salford and The Approach, London as well as a group show at Hauser and Wirth, Somerset and Fondation Carmignac, Hyères.
